Our Commitment to Sustainability and Climate Change Action

As part of the UK government’s continuing efforts to combat climate change, we are proud to support national initiatives focused on reducing carbon emissions, promoting renewable energy, and ensuring a sustainable future for all. Therefore, we are currently working towards achieving the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award, a pupil led accreditation scheme that recognises schools for improving their environmental footprint and sustainability education. Our school is committed to fostering environmental awareness, inspiring sustainable practices within our community, including reducing energy consumption, waste and cost while improving the school environment, and actively contributing to the UK’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

Through sustainability and climate change educational opportunities and the national curriculum, energy-efficient practices, and collaboration with local organisations, we aim to equip our young people with the knowledge and tools to become future leaders in environmental stewardship and climate action. We have started our journey by creating an Eco-Committee which consists of children, teachers, teaching assistants, members of the Governing Board, welfare assistants, kitchen staff, the site manager, cleaners and members the school business manager to conduct an environmental review and an action plan across topics like energy consumption, biodiversity and healthy living.
